MBM Commercial

MBM Commercial is an award-winning niche legal firm based in the UK, pre-eminent in advising growing entrepreneurial companies and their investors. The business was originally established by Sandy Finlayson in the early 1990’s as a division of another law firm and became an independent firm in 2005. Since that time, the firm has grown from strength, focusing exclusively on the provision of first class commercial legal services to its chosen client base.

MBM Commercial has established numerous Business Angel Syndicates and its reputation and expertise in the early stage investment scene is unrivalled. In 1991, Sandy Finlayson was responsible for bringing together the founders of Archangel, which has since grown to become one of the largest Business Angel Syndicates in the UK. Sandy was also responsible for identifying their first investment which is now a successful listed company.

“Archangel Informal Investment Ltd was founded in 1991 as a consequence of an introduction of the two founders by Sandy Finlayson of Murray Beith Murray WS. Archangel has developed that close relationship very productively and has worked successfully with Murray Beith Murray and its successor, MBM Commercial LLP, as their main lawyers since that time”

John Waddell, Chief Executive, Archangel Informal Investment Ltd

As well as Archangel, MBM Commercial has been involved in numerous other innovative financing schemes for investment in early stage companies and, most recently, was involved in the establishment of Seraphin Capital, the UK’s first Business Angel led Enterprise Capital Fund. The firm has also been involved in many investment successes for companies going to exit.

MBM Commercial is delighted to have collaborated with WBAA providing with legal support.

For Investors
As venture capitalists are moving up the ladder to higher amounts, business angels are increasingly active in the very early stage of companies, and are required to invest in several rounds of financing for the same company as there is a lack of follow-on investment. This new equity gap concerns amounts from 1 million to 3 million €, depending on the country.
