Indian Angel Network, India's first angel network, brings together successful entrepreneurs and CEOs who share a passion to enable more early stage businesses to create scale and value
By focusing on startups, the Network addresses the current acute lack of funds available to early stage companies. The Network believes that early stage businesses require more than just money to succeed. They require close mentoring and inputs on strategy as well as execution.
The Network looks at investing anywhere from a USD 100K to USD 500K in most cases but could go up to USD 1 mn. in very special cases. It looks to exit over a 3 to 5 year horizon through an IPO, M&A or strategic sale.
IAN brings a constant flow of investible opportunities to investors, diligences them and works with Investors to term sheet / Share Purchase Agreement. This Network also provides post investment help in terms of media visibility, recruitment, sales leads, etc. to investee companies
|
| Angel investing is very nascent in the country and IAN is the first formal attempt at organising individuals and institutions into a network. Today we have 78 individuals and 9 institutions as members
The number of business angels indirectly reached would be around 250
India, US, UK, Japan, Canada, Sri Lanka, France and Singapore

As venture capitalists are moving up the ladder to higher amounts, business angels are increasingly active in the very early stage of companies, and are required to invest in several rounds of financing for the same company as there is a lack of follow-on investment. This new equity gap concerns amounts from 1 million to 3 million €, depending on the country. |
